Residencies

Five residencies at five divergent sites: Glasgow Women’s Library, a grass roots organisation on the move; Hospitalfield House, a site of Scottish significance for the Arts & Crafts Movement (2003); Prestongrange, an industrial Museum, East Lothian (2002); America’s oldest shopping mall (2001) and finally Dimbola Lodge, a house on the Isle of Wight (2000). How and why do these sites remain resonant?

About

Nicky Bird is an artist whose work considers contemporary relevances of found photographs and latent histories of specific sites, investigating how they remain resonant. Her work incorporates new photography with oral histories and collaborations with people who have significant connections to the original site and its photographic archive.
